Roy was survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Debbie Claytor Hill; sons, Nathan Hill and Evan Hill; brothers, Danny Hill (Debbie), Frank Hill (Lynnis), and Eddie Hill (Sandy); and grandchildren, Breelan Hill and Jackson Hill. He is also fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom cherished him.
Roy was kind and quiet, loved to make people laugh, by telling jokes or stories of his childhood in the mountains. He always looked for ways to help others, whether through small acts of service or his steady presence and gentle nature.
Roy found so much joy in life's simple pleasures; he loved spending time by the water, whether at the ocean or casting a line on the river. He took pride in caring for the family pool so others could enjoy it. Playing cards was a favorite of his, as well, and with everything, Roy was happiest surrounded by his loved ones and friends in Virginia along with visiting his family in West Virginia.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, humor, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to Roy’s visitation at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA, on Monday, November 17th, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, and where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 18th at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park. Online condolences and fond memories of Roy may be shared with the family on the Nelsen Funeral Home-Reid Chapel website.
