Sally Lynn Young

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Andrew Peterson and Margaret Linnea Peterson.

Sally is survived by her husband, William Robert Young; sons, Dustin Young (Maggie Young) and Bradley Young (Alex Gecker); and grandchild, Ari Gecker-Young.

A devoted educator, Sally spent her career inspiring young minds as a teacher at high schools in the Yankton High School, Las Lomas High School, and Gallup High School. She will be remembered by her students and colleagues for her dedication to learning and the compassion she brought to the classroom.

A proud member of Job's Daughters and Pi Beta Phi sorority, Sally cherished the friendships and shared values these communities brought into her life. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Dakota in 1966, which marked the beginning of her lifelong journey as a learner and teacher.

In her personal time, Sally loved immersing herself in mystery novels and crafting beautiful quilts, sharing warmth and creativity with family and friends through each stitch.

A visitation for Sally will be held from 10:00 am to 2:000 pm on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from at Nelsen Funeral Home Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005.
