Verna Florence Pierce

She was born on a farm in Radcliff, Iowa which her grandparents homesteaded when they came from Norway in 1869. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynne, her parents, Lewis and Mabel Knudson, three brothers, and one sister.

Her husband, Ora J. Pierce, passed away in 2008 after 68 years of marriage. They were married in April of 1940 at the famous Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

She is survived by 3 sons, Jerry and his wife Judy, of Glen Allen, VA, Tim and his wife Debbie of Marietta, GA, and Brian of Christiansburg, Virginia, 9 Grandchildren, and numerous Great and Great Great grandchildren.

She was a homemaker who was baptized and confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran Church. She was a current member of Hunton Baptist Church in Glen Allen. She loved her family, playing cards, eating crabs, and frying fish no matter how big or small.

As Verna always quoted, “I am finally in my rightful place”. The family will hold a private memorial service at her favorite place, Ebb Tide Beach, in the summer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving staff at Chestnut Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Samantha Doll Project at Hunton Baptist Church in Glen Allen, VA.
