He was a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and his bosses often referred to him as the hardest worker they had ever met. Wayne loved his family, especially being a Papa. He would always brag on his daughters & his grandbabies. He loved popsicles and any song by George Jones. He was a jokester and would always try and say something funny to make people laugh. He always rooted for the underdog. Wayne had the biggest heart and would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it worse than him. Wayne’s legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 3pm on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005. “Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!” ― Sylvester Stallone, Rocky Balboa
