Alec Beatul

Alec came to Saskatchewan from Thelma, Alberta in 1941 with his father Dan Beatul, stepmother, Dora and four sisters. They resided on the farm (Green Meadows Ranch) west of Scout Lake. Alec took over the family farm in 1960 and actively continued to farm until 1999. In Oct. of 1974 he married Ida (McCutcheon) Johnson. On that day, he not only became a husband but a stepfather and soon thereafter a Grandfather. Alec was involved with local government in RM #43, active in happenings in his local and surrounding communities and travelled extensively over the years. Alec and Ida hit every continent on the planet except Antarctica. He curled, golfed, loved to play cards, but he was a farmer/rancher at heart. They left the farm and moved to Rockglen in 1981 continuing to farm from town. In 1999 a farm equipment auction was held, the land rented out and Alec became a "gentleman farmer". The land was sold in 2006, but was never far from his mind. For 20 plus years spring and summer months were spent in Sask. and the winter months in Pharr, Texas.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ida, of 42 years, his sisters Ann Swinton, Irene Roll, Loraie Borthwikk, Elaine Stangler, Doreen Wenham, stepchildren; Lorna Johnson (Robert Prefontaine), Sheila (Roger) Beaupre, Marlene (Darcy) Ager, Helen (Brian) Ager, Harvey (Kathy) Johnson; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alec was predeceased by his parents; Dan in 1978 and Mary in 1938; stepmother, Dora in 2010; sister, Shirley in 2008; brothers-in-law; Earl Swinton in 2004; Al Roll in 2007; Robert Stangler in 2016; sisters-in-law, Loys (Fairbairn) Dennis in 2011; Isabel Heels in 2015.

Service of Remembrance was held at the Rockglen Community Hall, Rockglen on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Marilyn Leuty officiated. Interment followed in the Rockglen Cemetery. Memorials in Memory of Alec received for the Rockglen Community Orchard or the Wesley United Church. Arrangements under the direction of Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
