Dear Neil and Daisy, even though we are not strangers to loss, the shock of it never ever lessens. And Fiona and I are so shocked at the loss of our new neighbor and friend, Avril. In getting to know you, Neil and Daisy, Avril could have only been more light in our little town. So it is with great sadness and disappointment that she left before she even really arrived.  Now it is closer at hand that we cherish the days you two are here with us.

I never got to meet Avril in person even though we were cousins, but connected through social media and had many good conversations in the past few years. She was always so friendly and I am glad we had those shared moments.

Although Avril and I were cousins, time and distance did not allow me to know her very well. I did, however, have opportunity to know her during family events and certainly enjoyed her humour and welcoming and friendly attitude. I certainly know she will be very much missed by friends and family. Think of her often and remember her well!

I met Avril in June, 2022. I was subbing at Hodgeville School on the day she stopped in to meet the staff and students. She was very friendly and bubbly, and told us a little bit about herself and her past teaching locations.
In November, we organized the School/Legion Remembrance Day program. I suggested a new video called THANKFUL which she wanted to watch before approving it for the students. I told her to watch it to the end. She said she had tears in her eyes when one of the interviewed men - who was a ‘sapper’ in the war - was identified. That was the same position her Dad was trained for when he served.
We shared a hug and a few tears, as my Dad was also a veteran, and is also deceased. As a thank you, I gave Avril a black wristband which had poppies and LEST WE FORGET stamped on it.
Avril… we will not forget you.

My deepest condolences for all of Avril’s family and loved ones. She was an amazing person who truly cared about everyone she met. She always had a smile and was willing to help anyone she could. My husband and I met her in our first year of teaching in La Loche. She was such a loving and caring person and she will never be forgotten. May she Rest In Peace. 

I had the pleasure of working alongside Avril in the LD Dept at Balfour Collegiate.  Smart, funny, always positive, she will be missed by all of us that were blessed to work with her. My thoughts and prayers to her family and the staff at Hodgeville School. 

Thoughts and prayers to Avril's family. I was lucky to have taught with Avril, and have fond memories of talking and laughing about work and the kids.  I loved her common sense and the way she could get you to buy a ticket for one of her causes.  She will be missed.  God bless.

You have my deepest condolences. I am crushed by her sudden passing but I am so blessed to have known her for the short time as a friend and colleague. Avril always had a good joke, story and a ready laugh that light up the room with conversation. I have known many nice people but Avril was not just nice but a a truly good person. That is the person I will remember fondly. Good bye Avril. You made our first year at Dene HIgh such a treasure of memories. 

Sincerest condolences to family, friends, colleagues, students, and anyone positively impacted by Avril. I recently had the privilege of meeting and working with her at a training session. I appreciated our conversations. May Her Memory be Eternal.
