Blanche Mayer

Blanche Florence Mayer passed away in Bengough, SK on February 24, 2024 at the age of 99. Predeceased by her parents, Dorilá and Mederise Boivin, sister Antoinette Graham, brother Albert Boivin, husband Frank, daughter Frances Binetruy and grandson Owen. She is survived by her children, Maureen (John) Carter of Regina; Dennis (Janice) Mayer of Cranbrook, BC; Donald Mayer, Sundrie, AB; Evelyn (Fred) Obhof of Spruce Grove, AB; Annette (Brian) Digby of Saskatoon; and Bernadette Lehman (Lionel) of Brandon, son-in-law Emile Binetruy, Lethbridge, AB. Also mourning her loss are her sister Laurette Lemieux, sister-in-law Nein Boivin, brother-in-law Jake Buhler and sister-in-law Rhoda Mayer. She was blessed with 7 children, 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well many nieces and nephews.

Mom was a homemaker and devoted her entire life to raising her family. After moving to town from the farm, she became involved in the CWL, Hospital Auxiliary, and the Drop In Centre. She enjoyed knitting, reading, word puzzles and was able to continue with these pastimes until her eyesight began to fail. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit France and England. She also took three cruises to various exotic locations which included Hawaii, Panama and Alaska. She regularly travelled to visit each of her children, catching up with them and meeting new arrivals to the family. Her monthly bus tour to Casino Regina was one more enjoyable activity in which she participated. When the bus tours to Regina from Bengough were cancelled, she took up crossword tickets to help fill in that time.

Memorial Service / Funeral Mass was held Friday, April 5, 2024 at 1:00 pm at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Bengough, SK. Father Hyacinth Okofor officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were grandsons Jason Carter, Chad Binetruy, Doyle Mayer, Sheldon Mayer, Garrett Cleland, Gregory Lehman; Readers were Elaine Kaufman and Jocelyn Comnachie. Tribute by Maureen Carter. Urn Bearer granddaughter, Marie Digby. Interment at Bengough Cemetery.
