Brad, beloved husband and soul mate of Cherie (O’Connor), passed away on Sunday night April 14th, 2013 in the PLC ICU, Calgary, AB surrounded by family and friends.
Brad was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, to Earl and Virginia Prentice. Farming was in the family and he enjoyed working the land, alongside his father and 3 brothers. He also took up the electrical trade at STI in Moose Jaw, SK & worked with Kimball Electric during this. When he and Cherie married, he formed his own company, ‘Brad’s Electric’, diligently servicing Assiniboia area for over 7 years.
Brad was devoted to providing a secure future for his family and in 1985 ventured up to Fort McMurray AB., to seek that. After a stint of employment with Commercial Electric, he was hired by Syncrude Canada Ltd., where he remained committed until his unexpected death. He was steadfast, believed in good work ethics, and held so many of his co-workers in high esteem. He’d just moved Cherie down to Airdrie, where he was planning to retire, as being more central to those he loved was of major importance to him. Friendships meant the world to him.
Brad loved nature – hunting, fishing and camping; and was an avid armchair sports enthusiast. He looked forward to visits ‘back home’, loved B.C. and enjoyed winter hot spot vacations. But by far, his greatest love was for his family and friends. He so cherished his 3 children and always provided a supportive willing shoulder with loving gentle guidance to Neil, Calgary AB; Kendra (Trevor Watt) Edson AB and Jerad, Edmonton AB. He treasured any time spent with his 3 precious grandchildren, and had such fun giving moustache tickles and making memories with Connor, Braden and Teagan.
Brad was predeceased by his father Earl; mother Virginia (Anderson), father-in-law Chuck O’Connor and brother-in-law Ed Beauchesne. Along side his wife, children & grandchildren, he leaves sharing their sorrow: his 3 brothers; Robert (Linda), Malcolm (Bridgette), Graham (Pam), 3 sisters; Valerie (Roger Kelly), Beverly (Jim Mytroen), Ang (Trent Martel); mother-in-law Isabelle O’Connor; sisters-in-law Maureen Beauchesne, and Doreen (Al Garrecht), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Brad’s Life was held in St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK., on April 20th, 2013. If desired, donations may be made to the M.S. Society, Canadian Lung Assoc., and the Calgary Health Trust. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.rossfuneralservice.com
