Danny Chartrand, of Coronach, SK, longtime resident of Big Beaver, SK, passed away peacefully with family at his side, in the Coronach Health Centre on November 2nd, 2012.
Predeceased by his wife, Margaret Chartrand (nee Stein), his parents Joseph Mack and Margaret, his brothers Maxi and Donald, his sister Valerie (Dave) Lanos, Doris, Buck, and Lisa and Louis LaCombe, Danny is survived by his son Gerald Chartrand of Regina, and his sisters: Margaret Bebee (Ben, deceased), of Calgary, AB; Ruby Chartrand of Regina; Bernadine (Leslie) Marshall of BC; Janet LaCombe (Buck, deceased) of Pablo, MT; his niece and friend, Kelly Froehlich; and his friend Darren Marshall; as well as many other nieces and nephews who he loved so very much, as they loved him, and who will always remember their Uncle Danny.
Danny was born on March 16th, 1929, at Willow Bunch, SK. He worked as a farm hand, drove truck for Rex’s in Moose Jaw, as well as other trucking companies, in addition to working on road construction in northern Saskatchewan. He loved hunting and fishing, and near the end he enjoyed just going for the ride with whoever went. There was a place where you could always find Danny, and that was his bench on the hill in Big Beaver, where he could always see what was going on. This was a gathering place for many, as someone was always sure to stop by. In his last four years, Danny lived at the Coronach Health Center, which became a home for him, surrounded by comfort and staff who cared as much for him as he did for them. He spent his time there doing puzzles and traveling on his scooter.
A Celebration of Life was held Thursday, November 8th, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Big Beaver Community Hall. Father Andrew Pawlowicz officiated. Tribute was given by Shannon Jensen (Marshall). Interment at the Big Beaver Cemetery will be held at a later date. Donations in Memory of Danny may be made to the Coronach Health Centre Trust Committee, Box 150, Coronach, SK, S0H 0Z0. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.rossfuneralservice.com.
