She was predeceased by her husband Johnny, son Jack, daughter Leila, parents Vasile and Lena Tonita, her sister Iona Caragata, and her brothers Dan Tonita and George Tonita. Dora is survived by Jack’s children: Jody, Darby and Baily; her son Ritchie and his partner Donna Hoffos and Ritchie’s children Cheryl (Eric) Richards and Bryan (Sharla); her daughter Myra and husband Barry Cole and their daughters Tanis Cole and Amber (Chad) Heller; and by her son Garth and his wife Rhonda and Garth’s children Cas and Hope; also by great-grandchildren: Jack, Ila, Gray, Brayden, Blake, Hudson, Sullivan and Carson. Mom also leaves behind her sister Marie Soparlo and her brother Steve Tonita as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dora was born May 2, 1927, in the Wood Mountain district. She was the second of six children. Mom attended school in Wood Mountain. She moved to Flintoft to work in the local store where she met our Dad and they were married July 8, 1950. The four things in life that made Mom the happiest were Family, Friends, Heritage and Faith. Mom really enjoyed the farm and all that came with raising five children, doing daily chores, feeding and caring for all of our farm animals, gardening and of course milking cows. Mom and Dad had all of us very involved in 4-H and we spent many winter nights playing cards together as a family. Mom made many friends playing cards in Wood Mountain, Flintoft and Lakenheath districts. For years she was a regular at the Wood Mountain Community Hall card parties. She continued to make new friends in Assiniboia and at East Side Court. Mom's faith and belief in God was unwavering and her respect for The Romanian Orthodox Religion was loyal. She gave her time to, and supported The Romanian Orthodox Churches in Wood Mountain and Assiniboia. She embraced her Romanian heritage and her trip to Romania in 2007 was certainly a highlight for her. Mom felt very blessed to have met Father John and very much appreciated his loyalty to her and his many visits. She was also grateful for Father Waldemar’s friendship. Mom loved us unconditionally from birth, and put us before herself. We are proud that she was someone you could always count on above everyone else. Orthodox Funeral Service was held Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK with Father John Bingham Officiating Priest, assisted by Cantor Mrs. Jary Bingham.
