On October 14, 2013, Edna Klemenz, of Bengough, SK, passed away at the Bengough Health Centre. Edna was born March 5, 1928, with her twin sister Ida, on the family farm at Richie, Saskatchewan. Edna and Ida were the fifth and sixth children of Adam and Alice Cleveland. Edna attended Desmond School, which was four miles south of the homestead, along with her brothers and sisters. Edna went to school until she was in Grade 3. Edna left home at an early age to start earning a living. She would work at different jobs; for example, housekeeping, babysitting, milkmaid, or farm hand. Edna's mother passed away in 1947, so in 1950 when Edna gave birth to her first child Patricia, she moved back to the family farm. Edna took on the role as mother of Pat, homemaker, and caregiver for her aging blind father Adam. Leslie, Walter, Melvin and Herb also lived and worked on the family farm. In 1960 Edna, Pat, Adam and Herb moved into the town of Bengough due to Adam's failing health. Edna moved into the Twilight Home in Bengough in 2009. She married Lawrence Henry Klemenz in 1972 and gave birth to her second child, Lester in 1973. Lawrence passed away in 1979 and Edna continued to raise her son, Lester, in the family home in Bengough.
Edna is survived by her children: Pat Ottesen, and Lester (Tricia) Klemenz, three grandchildren: Stacy (Lorelei) Ottesen, Angela (Clay) Mastad, and Jonathyn Trey Klemenz, three great-grandchildren: Triston Ottesen Mastad, Ivy Leigh Mastad and Lila Rose Mastad, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
