Einar was born in Eastend, SK on September 9, 1933, the second son of Oscar & Margit Thronberg. They moved to the Soucey farm north of Gravelbourg in 1938, and later to the Mackamick farm in 1942. He started school at the Wiseman School along with his brothers Carl, Ole, and sister Goodrun. While living at the Soucey farm, brother Ken was born and while at Mackamick another brother Larry, and sister Anna were born. In November 1946 the family purchased some land 5 miles south of Trudale. He then attended school at Bar Hill. In about 1950 or 51, he moved back to Mackamick’s and worked for him. He went to school at Gautier for a couple of years. Einar started working for Ken Solberg in 1952 or 53. He also worked for Ken Gingle. During this time he and brother Ole worked on the construction of the Russel Creek Dam. In 1960 he started working for Percy Wynia. On October 15, 1960, Einar married the love of his life, Marie Bardal, after dating a year. They had known each other since Marie was a little girl. Together they raised a family of four, three girls and one boy. In 1973 Einar and family moved to Assiniboia and he started working at John Deere. He helped farm at Southern Farms during seeding and harvest time for many years. In the late 1980’s he started working in Mossbank. He officially retired at the age of 70. He was then able to pursue his last adventure, the “Bowling Alley”. He spent many hours there working and teasing everyone and anyone. When he lost his beloved wife in June of 2004, he fell into a routine down at the bowling alley. His winter months were spent there and summer months were for gardening and sitting in his chair on the deck listening to his round tapes, as he called his cd’s. After he fell ill, he took up residence at West Side Court. In August 2014 he was hospitalized until he sadly passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 with family by his side. Einar enjoyed playing baseball, curling, fishing, bowling and playing cards with friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed by his four children and their spouses Shirley & Dick Ackerman, Melody & John Ellert, Jason & Cheryl Thronberg, Leanne & Jaysen Forsberg; seven grandchildren and their spouses Candis (Justin), Jessica (Kyle), Austin, Chayce, Abby-Jo, Morgan, and Alysha; and his two great-grandchildren Coen and Kinley. From him they all learned to garden, play cards, bowl, and to not walk in front of the TV when his beloved wrestling was on. They are sure he already has someone trained up above, to run and grab him a drink of rum when he does his signature cough stating he needs another. Einar is also survived by his brothers Carl, Ole, Ken and sisters Goodrun and Anna and their families; mother-in-law Mabel Bardal; brothers-in-law Ernie, Gary, Bruce, and sister-in-law Irene and their families, and his special goddaughter Kathy McKeown. He was predeceased by his dad in 1987, his mother in 1990, brother Larry in 2001, father-in-law Egil in 2002, and sister-in-law Doris in 2009. Rest in peace, dear brother. Funeral Service was held Thursday, November, 13, 2014 at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church in Assiniboia, officiated according to the United Church of Canada by Reverend Marilyn Leuty. Pallbearers were Robert Thronberg, Doug Thronberg, Dean Bardal, Rick Bardal, Chris Thronberg, and Dave McNaughton. Interment to be held at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK.
