

Elenora Hilda Sell, of Moose Jaw, SK, formerly of Assiniboia, SK, passed away August 30, 2017 at age 99. Born December 12, 1917 on a farm, south of Constance, Saskatchewan, one of ten children born to Julius and Pauline Karst. She grew up in the area and attended Lacordaire and Rockglen schools. Ella met Randall at a dance in Fife Lake Hall. They were married on May 24, 1937 in Scobey, Montana. Two children were born to them, Elaine in 1938 and Melvin Kenneth in 1942. They farmed in Rockglen, Montana, Assiniboia and Meadow Lake. Ella worked as a nurses’ aid in Scobey and Assiniboia. Ella loved the farming way of life, gardening, animals and playing cards. Ella is survived by daughter Elaine Prefontaine of Fairmont Springs, BC, two grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren: Brian (Kathy) Prefontaine and their family: Kaylem (Alana) –Hudson, Ryley, Leddi; Adrien; Sonia – son Herschel; Maria; Alisa; Rhylen and Giselle Heinrichs and her family: Nicolas – son Deacon; Nathaniel; Christine – daughter Emerson; Kayley – children Brayden and Payton; her sister Mildred Prefontaine of Moose Jaw, brother Ralph of Rockglen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Randall (2001); son Melvin Kenneth (1990); brothers George, Donald and Walter; sisters Della, Julia, Doris and Pauline. Funeral Service was held at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Assiniboia, on September 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Doug Miner officiating. Ella's brother Ralph Karst delivered the Tribute and Loretta Frank shared her memories of Ella. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia.
