22 June, 1942 - 8 September, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eunice Evangeline Siggelkow, at the age of 83. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 8, 2025, at Assiniboia Union Hospital.
Eunice was born on June 22, 1942, in Buffalo Gap, SK, the youngest of two children to John and Laura Thurlow. After graduating from high school, she moved to Saskatoon, where she earned her diploma in Licensed Practical Nursing. Though she only practiced for a short time, she often spoke fondly of her nursing days and her love of caring for others.
In 1963, Eunice married Gerald Siggelkow, and together they built a life on the Siggelkow family farm near Rockglen, SK. With her welcoming smile and the guidance of her mother-in-law, Fanny, Eunice quickly became known for her warm hospitality and hearty home-cooked meals. She embraced farm life wholeheartedly—planting a large garden, milking cows, raising livestock and chickens, ensuring her growing family was well cared for. Each fall, she proudly filled her pantry with canned goods and shared her harvest with her children as they began families of their own. Nothing gave her greater joy than providing for her loved ones.
In 2002, Eunice experienced a major health crisis that left her disabled, and the caregiving role she had so lovingly carried was taken on by her husband, Gerald, and son, Clint. After Gerald’s passing in 2019, Clint, with the help of Tina James, continued to lovingly care for her at the family farm, where Eunice was able to remain comfortably until her final days.
Eunice was predeceased by her parents, John and Laura Thurlow; her infant daughter, Angela Siggelkow; her infant grandson, Tyson Markel; her brother, Wayne Thurlow; her beloved husband of 55 years, Gerald Siggelkow; and her daughter, Shelley Neudeck.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Debbie Markel (Darryl) of Regina, SK; Clint (Tina) of Rockglen, SK; Ryan (Lori) of Assiniboia, SK; Pam Walker (Scott) of Saskatoon, SK, and son-in-law Corey Neudeck of Moose Jaw, SK. She will also be deeply missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the palliative care team at Assiniboia Union Hospital—especially Tristan and Stephanie—for the compassion, warmth, and dignity they provided during Eunice’s final days. Special thanks are also extended to Anette at Ross Funeral Home for her kindness and support.
A private family celebration of life will be held. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy for the Siggelkow family may be shared at www.rossfuneralservice.com. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK
