Evelyn Brandt

Peacefully on August 24, 2026, Evelyn Brandt (nee Thompson) passed away at age 93. She is predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Ed, parents, Frank and Maria (nee Carswell) Thompson, parents-in-law Richard and Adele (nee Koch) Brandt, sister May and brother-in-law Don Spark, brother Frank Thompson, sister-in-law Doris Brandt. Evelyn will be forever cherished by her three daughters, Brenda Brandt (Garnet) their children Brielle (Hudson) Schmidt and Levi Anderson (Kylin Elder); Beverley (Brian) Nattress, their daughters Mariah (Brandon Thomsen) and Justine; Bonnie Brandt (Trevor Benson) and their daughter McKenna, her sister-in-law Carol Thompson, brother-in-law Art Brandt, niece Linda (Brad) Wiggins, nephews Brian (Bea) Spark, Don (Michelle) Thompson, Allan (Louise) Thompson, Les (Ronna) Thompson, niece Shawney (Brad) Dobbin, nephew Doug Brandt, and their families.

Mom was a farmer alongside Dad for their entire married life. She loved the way of life that farming afforded her family and supported Dad in all aspects of farming be that in the fields or working with the cattle and horses. She loved animals and diligently cared for everything that needed a home or a soft place to land for even a short time. Mom was always surrounded by animals and flowers. She loved flowers and plants and our house was always filled with blooms.

Mom loved being a "Mom" and found that being a "Grandma" was even better. She and Dad spent many hours driving to sporting events, dance competitions, graduations and other school events so that they could proudly watch their children and grandchildren participate. Mom was so very proud of all her children and grandchildren and relished all their accomplishments.

Mom was the "picture taker" in our family and she was adamant that every event was captured for posterity on film. All of our cousins can attest to this fact as well. Thank you, Mom, for all the pictures that you took of us as they have become cherished memories.

Mom and Dad were active in their church communities, attended regular services, and sang in various church choirs. Mom loved to visit with family, friends, neighbors and anyone they met along the path of life. They were both active in their communities and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Mom loved to connect with people and so she spent many hours on the phone with those that meant so much to her, making sure we all knew how much we mattered to her. She loved deeply and wholeheartedly and genuinely sought out the best in people. We are indebted to her for the example she gave us in how to live a fulfilled life.

A special "Thank you" again goes out to Uncle Art, Doug, Chris, Dexter and Michelle for the many kindnesses that you afforded Mom and Dad in their last few years on their farm. It means so much to us that you played a part in their ability to remain on their beloved farm for as long as they did. We are forever grateful for the little acts that meant so much and were delivered so graciously.

Funeral Service was held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Assiniboia, SK. Pastor Sarah Mowat presided. Pallbearers – grandchildren Mariah Nattress, McKenna Brandt, Brielle Schmidt, Levi Anderson, Justine Nattress, and Hudson Schmidt. Interment in Readlyn Cemetery. Our family would like to express our gratitude and thanks to everyone for their condolences, kind words of sympathy and remembrance, beautiful flowers, cards and generous gifts of time that we received during this difficult time. Your thoughtfulness was so appreciated. Special thanks to Donna and Shawney for the scripture readings; to Anette and Gary for your compassion, thoughtfulness and attention to every detail. It was wonderful to take Mom back to their yard one last time. Thank you also to the Messiah Lutheran Church Ladies for serving lunch and Judy Chubb and Pastor Sarah for their contributions to Mom's service. Thank you to everyone who donated to the Moose Jaw Humane Society in memorial to Mom. A huge thank you to the staff at Ross Payant Long Term Care for the outstanding care that they provided for Mom in her last years. We appreciate everyone's kindness and thoughtfulness during this difficult time.
