

Garnet George Charles "Skid" Rowe, of Glentworth, SK, passed away February 27, 2012 at age 62. Garnet was born October 18, 1949 at Mankota, SK. Predeceased by his father Alex (1964), his mother Etta Rowe (McDowell) (1988), and brother-in-law Bill Howe (2006), he is survived by his sisters Barbara Howe of Glentworth and Sharon (Raymey) Caragata of Assiniboia, as well as several special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews: Gordie Howe of Glentworth; Steven (Denise) Howe, Dalton and Derik; Lonnie (Lori) Howe, Jaycie and Josh all of Medicine, Hat, AB; Darcy Howe, Braydon and Taylor of Carlyle, SK; Billy Jo Howe of Regina; Darin Caragata, Hailey, Brooke and Chance of Yuma, AZ; Ryan (Cindy) Caragata, Ami and Cal of Lumsden, SK; Dusty Caragata (fiancé Theresa) of Swift Current, SK, and Amber Caragata of Regina, SK. Garnet worked at various jobs before he started buying grain. He worked at elevators in McCord, Mankota, East Poplar, Canopus, Rockglen, Coronach, Glenbain, Vanguard, Grey, Mazenod and Mossbank. Following his retirement, Garnet bought land south of Glentworth and farmed with his nephew Gordie. Garnet was always a sports enthusiast. Rodeo was a favorite of his. He tried his hand at steer wrestling and later followed the rodeo circuit as #1 fan of Dusty and Ryan. Curling was another favorite of Garnet’s. He was a great curling fan attending many local and provincial bonspiels, being a generous contributor. He always made time to enjoy a good game of crib with family and friends. “Skid’s Slo Pitch Tournament” was legendary and his slo pitch team lasted at least two decades. A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, March 9, 2012, in the Glenworth Community Hall. Donations in Garnet’s Memory may be made to the Glentworth Community Hall. Interment in the Waverley Cemetery will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
