

George John Boynton passed away September 25, 2010, at the Bengough Health Centre at the age of 89. George was born January 16, 1921, in the Bengough District, SK to Bryant and Susan Boynton. After receiving his Grade 8 education, he started farming full-time with his father, until he passed away when George was 16. George and his step-mother, Austa, continued farming with the help of a hired man. In 1944, George married Millicent (Millie) Turner. They had three children - Bonnie, Bryant and Beverley.
George was very active in the community. He was a part of the Coney Island School Board, Bengough School Board, Bengough Rural Telephone Board, Knox United Church Board, Councilor and Reeve of RM# 40, Bengough and District Parks Board, and Legion Member of the Home Guard.
George was a good curler and was one of the oldest active curlers in Bengough. He was on the team that won an R.M. Provincial Curling Championship. He enjoyed a good rummy game with the old boys at the Drop In. He also enjoyed watching balls games and honking the horn whenever a good play was made.
Predeceased by his wife Millie in 2000, parents Bryant and Susan Boynton, step-mother Austa Boynton; George is survived by two daughters Beverley (Raymond) Gauley of Ogema, Bonnie (Tom) Elder of Westlock; one son Bryant (Belva) of Bengough; six grandchildren, Carlene Gauley of Bengough, Calin Gauley (Tara) of Bengough, Stephen Boynton (Nicole and Javin) of Moose Jaw, Brett Boynton (Rachael) of Saskatoon, Jeffery Elder of Westlock, Jennifer Elder (Russell) of Westlock; three great-grandchildren, Jayde, Jessa, Kennedy Gauley.
Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, Bengough, SK on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 with Sylvia Fitzgerald DLM officiating. Pallbearers were: Brett Boynton, Norman Tomlinson, Stephen Boynton, Keith Holt, Jeff Elder, and Bill Giblett. Donations in memory of George can be made to the Knox United Church Memorial Fund or to the Bengough Health Centre Auxiliary. Interment in the Bengough Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
