Gilbert was born August 23rd, 1945 in Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, the fifth child born to Alma and Eugene. He received his education in Willow Bunch.
He married Rose Francon on June 3rd, 1977 and made their home in Assiniboia. Gilbert worked at various jobs until 1974, when he started employment at (Larsen) Swayze’s Cement plant driving truck. He continued to do many side line jobs such as cutting trees and cement work.
Gilbert enjoyed social times with family and friends; nothing like making practical jokes and sharing his smile with a group of people, made Gilbert his happiest. Gilbert had many things on the go, but he always found time to give a helping hand to everybody. He was a volunteer member of the Assiniboia Fire Department, spent many hours helping at St. George’s Parish hall and was also a member of the Knight of Columbus.
Gilbert is survived by wife, Rose; three children: Marcel & Tracy and their daughters Demora and Annie; Corrine & Tallal Younis and Jacqueline Delorme (Russell); two sisters Irene McGirr and Dorothy Rozon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gilbert was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Alma (Fontaine) and two brothers Roland and Maurice.
