February 2, 1964 - August 7, 2025
Greg (Grog, Gruncle) passed away peacefully in his home August 7, 2025, after a long illness.
Greg Mckellar Taylor was born in Whitehorse, Yukon, with his siblings Bernadette (Bernie) and Patricia (Tish) Taylor, to our parents Dorothy and George Taylor. After the passing of our dad George in 1965, our mom remarried to Mervin Larson. Mervin adopted us in 1966. At that time, we all became Larson and Greg’s middle name changed to Greg Leroy Larson. We are of Metis Heritage on mom’s side, Scottish on dads. Our Aboriginal Ancestors were from the Red River clan in Manitoba, whereas the Beaudry Provincial Park in Manitoba is named after our moms’ family.
Greg is survived by his 2 older sisters. Bernadette (Bernie) Larson (Eldest), and Patricia (Tish) Tarlton. Nieces, Donella Usselman, and Kristy Tarlton and partner Nathan Pitre. Grandnieces - Lydia Hayden, Ayva and Paityn Tarlton-Pitre. Grandnephews - Maxence Hayden, and Ashyr Tarlton-Pitre.
Growing up, we moved and relocated all over the place. From Whitehorse, (after mom’s divorce) we moved to Pine Point, Northwest Territories (moms’ sister and family lived there) for approx. 1 year and back to Whitehorse where she met her boyfriend. Moms’ boyfriend worked for Greyhound as a bus driver so were continuously relocating. In two years, we moved to Fort Nelson B.C., Dawson Creek B.C., Prince George B.C., and Smithers B.C. After Their breakup, we then moved to Parksville to live with my aunt and cousins for approximately 1 year. We moved to Terrace where we lived for approximately 6 years. Greg loved Terrace and formed great friends. When Mom sold our house, Mom, Greg and Tish moved to Victoria B.C. for approximately 1 year (Greg loved Victoria, lots of activities to do). Fort MacMurray Alta. was next living close to moms siter and family. Greg and mom lived there for approximately 2 years, then to Camrose Alta. for a few years where grand nieces were born and when Greg started in the pipeline, then Red Deer Alta. Greg and mom moved to Burns Lake B.C. where they were heavily involved with the Legion. Greg and mom started working in the mines, flying in and out of camp. Greg always mentioned that working in that camp was a great experience. Greg told me lots of stories working in the bush. The only way to get around was by helicopter. After a few years they decided to move back to Alta where Greg started back in the pipeline. He moved to Rimbey Alta until 2009. During that time...he was a heavy equipment operator in the oilpatch for quite a few years, (which he thoroughly loved and was very good at). AS our sister Tish would say: “True to our Metis Spirit we have been wanderers” with all our moves. After moms passing in 2009, Greg moved out to Saskatchewan, where he lived in different areas, living his final years in Fife Lake and RockGlen Saskatchewan.
Greg loved to golf, play pool, darts, fish, camp, road trips, build different projects (decks, tall garden beds, BBQ,) and hang out with his friends. While living in Burnslake, Mom and Greg took a saddle making
