Harold Thomson, of Rockglen, SK, passed away March 24, 2018 at age 85. He was predeceased by his parents, Willie & Ida (Mergel) Thomson. Harold is survived by his wife Betty (Kimball); three children: Ellen (Shan) Noyes, Jody (Rae) Thomson and Rory (Olga) Thomson; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Billy (Maxine) Thomson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Harold was born October 27, 1932 at the Red Cross Hospital at the Old Post, Wood Mountain, SK. He grew up on the ranch in the Wood Mountain / Canopus area. He and his brother attended Bayard, Guildford, Sunnycrest, and Old Post, Wood Mountain Schools. Harold built bridges and roads for the L.I.D.’s from Rockglen to the Alberta border for eleven summers. In the 1960’s he owned a caterpillar tractor and scraper and did custom work. Harold married Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Kimball in 1964. They resided on their ranch seven miles northwest of Canopus. His hobbies were karate which he started when he was fifty and practiced for over 10 years, hunting or just observing the wildlife and training horses. He loved his ranch and lived there until he was 80 and health problems meant he couldn't be alone. Then he moved into Rockglen. He was actively farming and helping to care for the livestock up until he moved to Rockglen. Celebration of Harold’s Life was held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the Rockglen Community Hall with Arnold Manske officiating. Music ministry by Arnold and Trish Manske; granddaughters Kaylee, Brenna and Aspen Thomson read the obituary; grandson Shae Noyes delivered the tribute; granddaughter Breeann Noyes performed Amazing Grace on flute; and daughter Ellen Noyes presented a power point. Urn bearer was grandson, Alexander. Interment will be at a later date at Morgan Cemetery, Wood Mountain, SK.
