Larry Boyd was born January 1, 1939 in Bengough. Following his primary education in Bengough, he took civil engineering at S.T.I. in Moose Jaw and was then employed by the Dept. of Highways. He met Ila Headrick, who was nursing at the Bengough Hospital, and were married July 6, 1962. Following their marriage, Larry took up farming and the couple moved to the farm. In 1987, Larry and Ila moved to the town of Bengough, but continued to farm. In 1996 they purchased a cabin at Thomson Lake, where many leisure hours were spent golfing, fishing and generally enjoying life.
Larry was a fun-loving, caring person – a friend to all. He would leave his own work to give a helping hand to others – expecting nothing in return.
Larry was a born athlete – playing ball from a very early age to senior hardball. He was a hockey player and a curler.
He was a proud farmer and always did his best.
He was a prankster – liked to pull little jokes on people and laughed when they found out who did it.
Larry was always interested in his grandchildren and their achievements – taking in some of their programs when he could.
He was a loving husband and father of two children, Todd and Kim. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
