       I was so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing, far too young. Many people are thinking and praying for your family.

There are no words

This cannot be real. 

I constantly fight the anger and the “why him, why now?” But no amount of anger will bring him back, so I feel the best thing I can do for myself, all of his family and friends, and for his great memory is to make sure everyone knew how special and unique he was. Mike had a unique way of showing love to all of those he held dear.  There are too many to mention but here are some that are standing out in my memory today.  Every Wednesday morning (my day off), without fail, he would call me to chat.  He was an early riser, and so he often woke me as I tried to sleep in.  “You sleepin?”, he would say…..”nope i was just getting up”, I would reply.  I never wanted to miss the chance to have our weekly chat.  Often we talked about our next “brothers fishing trip”, which he would always be looking forward to.  There is no doubt that fishing, family and friends were his life.  
He would often say how he felt bad that he couldn’t get his kids or grandkids all of the gifts he wanted to. He said they deserved so much more. I told him they understood that he was doing the best he could.  He would never take help from anyone else either.  He was too proud and would “figure it out” on his own.  And somehow, he always did.  
He often talked about his friends (who were family to him) - Murray and Drake were often in our conversations - they are f^%*in good guys, he would say.  The type of guys that would do anything for you, without question, without hesitation. And I am sure they echoed the same about him.  Firing up his smoker, turning on the riders game in the man cave, and having a few 3 fingered whiskies with his buds were definitely among his most cherished times.  I know through years of conversations with Mike that Murray and Drake helped carry him through some of his most difficult times, and for that, our entire family is forever grateful

The pain of you not being here feels like more than I can bare, but like the rest of your many family and friends, we will push forward in your honor and work hard to keep your memory alive.  We will tell your many stories, we will go fishing and think about you,  and we will miss you every moment of everyday.  
My heart will never heal and I will miss you until the day I get to hug you again.  I love you big brother - Rest in Peace - I will see you again one day ❤️

Hailey, Jenaya, Brody, Ensley and Luxx - I think you all know the love your dad/grandpa had for you all.  No one was more proud of you all than him.  I know this because of the countless stories he would tell me about you. He loved you and was proud of you all.  
“Papa Squatch”, “Squatchy”, and “Baboon” were just a few of his nicknames.  He was a big man, with big shoulders, big hands, a unique giggle and the biggest heart.  If you were ever so lucky as to get a hug from him (if he wanted a hug, he was getting a hug :)) then you know what I am talking about.  His hugs were perfect.  Those hugs said “I love you”, “thank you”, “I miss you”, “I hope to see you again soon”, just to name a few.  No words were ever needed.  His hug was just like dads.  
For me, I was very proud of his recent accomplishments and I told him that as often as I could- getting a new job, getting a significant pay increase from his last job, getting his Class 1 license, and getting a new boss that he really admired.  He was finally getting out from under some of the financial strains that life can put on us all - that is why this is so difficult for me to accept. A true definition of a tragedy.  “I’m going to go fishing more” and “I’m finally going to be able to get my kids/grandkids birthday/xmas presents” - these were the thing’s most important to him in his most recent phone conversations with me.  We even talked about this again on his last day, Nov 5, while we (Mike, Pat, Marc,Val, and my son Ethan) were cleaning moms house (she had just moved to Regina).  I could hear the relief in his voice as he talked about Jenaya’s upcoming birthday and he had the perfect gift in mind for her.  He finally could just get it and not have to worry about how much it was.  He was always talking about his kids or his grandkids - he was so proud and rightfully so.  They are beautiful kids and a reflection of him.

It was heartbreaking to learn of Michael's tragic passing today. Maria and I send our sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Mike's kids, Cecile and all my cousins that are grieving with this loss. It came far too soon.

I just met Mike last month at trucking school! Couldn't have asked for a better classmate. I was saddened to hear of his passing. I know he was looking forward to new adventures and finally seeing the ocean. I know his puppy will miss him. Condolences to the family.

I met Mike when we both worked at Trail Appliances in Calgary back in 1999 or 2000. He was such a funny guy. A heart of gold. We lost touch later on as life gets busy and people go on with their lives but this makes me sad. Many condolences!!  My dad and Mike were buddies. I hope they are now enjoying a good laugh together.

My heart is broken...my memories of working with Squatch at Trail?  So many, but the one that stands out is when Roger and his accomplices set up a trap to scare Mike when he came into work...it was caught on tape and was priceless.  RIP my old friend ❤️❤️

So thankful you just came down a couple weeks ago and brought the family together for the weekend to get a couple more good laughs and memories in 🖤

Uncle nothing can ever ever replace you. You were so loved. The life of the party. The one I could say anything too and you would just shake your head and smile at me with that grin. Your absence has left many voids in many lives. You will be so missed and never forgotten. Your babies will be taken care of too. Love you to the moon and I hope you enjoy being “gone fishin” with Grandpa <3

My brain still can't believe this. The world has lost a kind soul and good friend. 
My heart goes out to all the brothers and sisters and Cecile. Hailey, Jenaya and Brodie, your dad loved you guys more than you'll ever know.  He was so proud of all of you, and always brought a smile to his face. Never forget that.

My Condolences to the family. I got to know mike a bit through working at Greystone Manor. He was such a great guy and will be missed by many. 

I worked with Mike over the years. One thing with mike no matter how the day was going he always had a smile or would make you smile. He had a special thing about him that when you seen him he would always make you laugh, no matter what kind of day you were having. When the Riders played you missed out if you didn’t go to Mike’s man cave in his garage. Always a blast ! Condolences to his family. Words can’t express the terrible loss that his family and many friends have to endure without Mike. Rest In Peace my friend.
