December 28, 1926 - February 4, 2015
Muriel was born in Kobe, Japan, daughter of Rev. Charles and Grace Green, missionaries of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. She received Christ as Savior at the age of five and at an early age sensed the call to missionary service. She did her elementary and high school studies in Toronto and Bible College in Regina where she met Eugene Kelly. They were married in 1950. To this union were born five children, Ruth, Rebecca, Charles, Marilyn, and Daniel. Their first pastorate was in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Trail, BC. After three and a half years of ministry there, they left on their first missionary assignment to Colombia, South America where they served 18 years. Their next assignment was in Lima, Peru. After 12 years in Lima, they were transferred to Quito, Ecuador, from where they traveled and ministered in other Latin American countries. While Eugene was involved in church planting, Muriel’s ministry was teaching, mentoring, and discipling primarily women in the church. What she most enjoyed was caring for women in crisis and the poor. Due to Muriel’s illness they returned to Regina, Canada where for several years Muriel participated in the Alliance Women’s prayer ministry. Even in her illness Muriel was able to remain in her home up until a week before the Lord called her to be with Himself. She was predeceased by her parents, children Marilyn and Daniel who died in infancy, and sister Ruth, Muriel is survived by her husband of 64 years, Eugene, and three children, Ellen Ruth (John) Rollins, Rebecca Jean (Tim) Egeler, and Charles Stephen (Karen) Kelly, nine grand-children and ten great-grandchildren, brother Allen as well as several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. A remembrance luncheon followed at the Assiniboia Alliance Church gymnasium. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army, William Booth Special Care Home. Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia are in care of the arrangements.
