Mom was born January 11, 1926 at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, the youngest of six children to John and Beatrice Walker. Her father passed away when she was 6 years old and life was not easy for her family. Mom attended Strawberry Coulee School and when she left there, she worked as a farm and ranch hand for R.F. Burgess and Ben Beadow. Then Mom joined the Navy and rode a train to Halifax, NS to work on the base as a cook and food server. While there she made good friends, three of whom she kept in touch with letters, phone calls and Navy reunions. The two of them that were left this year kept in touch until the very end.
In May 1948, she married her sweetheart, Arthur Lee, in Scobey, Montana and they were together for 44 years. Together they built a life working side by side to buy a farm at Big Beaver and later a ranch in the Big Muddy Valley. Mom loved the outdoors and would sooner be out working with Dad than anywhere else. Mom was a wonderful cook and the best meals were enjoyed every day. Mom planted a big garden, milked cows to have milk and cream, raised pigs, chickens, turkeys, and geese and the freezers would be full in the fall. She would knit and crochet in the winters making mitts and scarves and sweaters. Mom enjoyed playing smear, whist and texas hold 'em and was a regular at the weekly games in town. She also enjoyed scrabble and doing crossword puzzles and was never an idle person, always busy doing something. Mom attended every event that she could that the grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in.
Predeceased by her parents John and Beatrice Walker, husband Arthur and daughter Leona, sisters Nellie, Ethel, Florence, Ellen and brother Stanley, she is survived by son John (Carol), daughter Karen (Jack), grandchildren, Clayton (Keri), Lyndon (Jodie), Heath (Monica), Adrian (Chris), and great-grandchildren: Brianne, Brooke, Dani, Zoe, Aiden, Andee, Masen and Maddie, step grandsons-in-law Stacey & Nolan and their families, and numerous nieces and nephews.
