Roy Lawrence Lamontagne of Lisieux, SK. passed away June 6, 2018 at the age of 61. Predeceased by his parents Laurent and Norma Lamontagne, one infant sister Marion and his father-in-law James Kyle, Roy is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Shelly (Kyle) Lamontagne; his three daughters: Sherry (Barry Paliuk) children Shawny and Keagan; Jackie (Darcy Carpenter) and daughter Mikayla; Katherine (Pat Lally) and their children Autumn, Ethan, Angelle, Miles and Brooklyn; and one son Wesley (Kristin Warken) and children Axel, and Asher; sisters: Marlene (Raymond Loy), Jeanette (Russell Belbeck), Beverly (Donny Howe) and one brother Leonard (Dana Vaessen); mother-in-law Shirley Kyle, brother-in-law Darcy (Cherie), Darryl (Delee) and sister-in-law Trina (Brandon) McLean; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was born September 6, 1956 in Rockglen, Sask. He was raised on the family farm east of Lisieux. He attended school in Scout Lake and Rockglen. From 1972-1974 the family lived in the Big Muddy. Growing up, Roy enjoyed riding horses and hunting. In later years he enjoyed rodeos, fishing, camping and hunting. He loved his pets, Molly and Wilson who spent many hours in the semi with Roy. His most recent companion was his furry friend Nikko, his German Shepherd. Roy and Nikko both looked forward to their trips to Moose Jaw to attend obedience and tracking classes. Roy met the love of his life Shelly on January 26, 1976. They were married August 21, 1976 and moved to the farm to start their life and raise their family. Roy worked for Inland Construction for a few months before returning to the family farm. When farming was slow Roy worked off the farm as well: for Botkins, RM of Rockglen, MDM Construction and Lyla Cowan Farms. In 1999, he decided he would diversify and started his trucking career. He loved to haul cattle the most, but also hauled grain and bales. When things were slow at home he worked for Roberge Transport on and off throughout the years. He loved to visit with his family and friends and his most recent nick name was Yackie-Yackerton. There was no other man who could talk up a storm like Roy, his stories were larger than life with more sound effects than one could imagine. Roy spent hours making up songs that his children and grandchildren would sing, occasionally finding themselves in trouble as they were slightly inappropriate. The last couple of years Roy found a passion for gardening. He planted trees, built flower beds and garden boxes. Roy and Shelly enjoyed their fenced in picnic area where they could be found by the bon fire roasting hot dogs or cooking over the open fire. Roy loved working outside and spending time in his shop. He loved listening to music of all kinds, often he would listen to Christmas carols on a hot summer day. Roy loved to hop into the truck and just drive around and enjoy the scenery. His desire was to get a small place up north and to escape for a while to fish and hunt. Roy loved when the family would get together and visit. He enjoyed the reunions we had at the motel in Rockglen. Throughout Roy’s life he lent a hand to many people, always available and just a phone call away. Many people found a home within Roy’s home, his door was always open, and never did he turn anyone away. Everyone knew that Roy would be there to help anyway he could always giving his time generously and asked for nothing in return. May he find eternal peace and comfort and know that he was loved and will be missed. Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the Rockglen Hall. Reverend Marilyn Leuty officiated; tribute was written and read by Rick and Shannon Fisher.
