Ruby Graves

Ruby was born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan, on May 19, 1937. She grew up on the family farm south of McCord, Saskatchewan, attending Patriotic School.

She married Art Graves on September 2, 1955. They lived in Moose Jaw, McCord, and Gravelbourg for short periods, but the majority of their lives together were lived in Lafleche. Ruby was a wife and mother and worked at the local Co-op for a number of years. She did custom sewing and spent many happy hours doing her favorite hobbies quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting and tatting.

She was predeceased by her parents Mildred (Yingst) and Bernace Uteck, as well as her husband of 62 years, Art.

She is survived by her children: Laurel (Jim Sokolowski) of East Selkirk, Manitoba; Rose (Gordon) Lawrence of Neville, Saskatchewan; Allen Graves of Swift Current, Saskatchewan and Caroline Graves of Regina, Saskatchewan. She was also survived by her brothers: Donald (Paula deceased) Uteck of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and Dale (Sharon) Uteck of Neville, Saskatchewan.

Ruby was the Grandmother of 9, Great-Grandmother of 23, and Great-Great-Grandmother of 6.

A graveside service was held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lafleche Municipal Cemetery with Reverend Janelle Shaw officiating. Following the service, the family invites you to join them at Club 50 in Lafleche for a time of fellowship.
