It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband, lifemate, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Tom Winter on July 8, 2014 at the age of 88.
Born October 14, 1925 in Scobey, Montana to Edwin and Mabel Winter, Dad was the sixth child of eight. He spent his entire life doing what he loved most, farming. He was raised on the family farm at Coronach, and his own farm was adjacent to the family homestead. On July 17, 1949 he married the love of his life, Arleane Fister, and together they raised four children: Bonnie, Holly, Colleen, and Ivar. Throughout his life, Dad’s sense of community was always present, serving on numerous boards and committees. He was ever present to help family, friends and neighbours. Dad had a great passion for creation and invention, if he saw a way to make things better he would spend hours tinkering and welding.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Mable, his sister Julia Fox, brothers Charlie, Peter and Walter, in-laws Jesse and Esther Fister. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 65 years, Arleane; four children: Bonnie (Stan) McBurney of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Holly (Garry) Gerein of Prince Albert, SK, Colleen (Floyd) Elder of Coronach, SK and Ivar of Moose Jaw, SK; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Mary Vonarx of Nanaimo, BC, brothers Hubert (Beverly) of Regina, Jim (Lorene) of Moose Jaw, sister-in-law Elvina and their families.

A fellowship and celebration of Dad’s life followed at the Coronach Community Hall.
In keeping with Dad’s wishes and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Coronach Health Care Centre for the purchase of a Handi-Van.
