

Vi Beausoleil, of Assiniboia, SK, passed away August 13, 2013, at age 92. Marie Ange Violetta Therrien was born on Easter Sunday, March 27, 1921 in the Harptree District, SK. She grew up in the area and attended Sharon School, Harptree, Hexagon, Muddy View Schools, as her father worked for farmers in those areas, then back to Willow Bunch where she attended Lautier School. On October 10, 1939, she married Simon Beausoleil and lived on the family farm until 1944 when they purchased their own farm. They lived on that farm until 1960 when they moved to St. Victor, SK, where they managed a confectionary store and restaurant. In 1962 they returned to the farm and Simon farmed and worked on construction. In 1963, Simon injured his back, leaving him incapable to farm. They sold the farm in 1964 and moved to Moose Jaw where Violetta kept boarders until 1977. She also worked at various restaurants from 1964 – 1977. When they moved to the Elks Senior Citizens Home, Violetta was an avid bowler and participated in national finals. Violetta moved to Prairie Villa, Assiniboia in November of 2007 and enjoyed the many comforts and activities. Simon and Violetta enjoyed travelling across Canada, from British Columbia to New Brunswick. She enjoyed visits from their children, grandchildren and many friends. Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Pomella Therrien, her husband Simon, sons Paul and Denis, son-in-law Henri Cote, and great-grandson Dallyn Cote, Vi is survived by her children: Sylvia Cote (Adrien Houle), Georges Beausoleil and Hélène Beausoleil (Bob Manning); daughters-in-law Brenda (Ken) Smith and Marge Loberg; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other family members. Funeral Service was held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 in St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK. Father Joy Montiague officiated. Urn Bearers were grandchildren Chris Painchaud and Jocelyn Roy. Readers were grandchildren: Colette Cote, Tammy Beausoleil, Jacqueline Beausoleil, and Raymond Painchaud. Tributes were given by son-in-law, Bob Manning, grandson, Michael Painchaud and family friend, Aurelie Nevile-Smith. Interment followed at St. Ignace R.C. Cemetery, Willow Bunch, SK.
