Wilfred John Tendler passed away on June 28, 2026, at the Bengough Health Centre, at the age of 90. He was born March 8, 1936, in Bengough, SK. He married Linda Klemenz on April 9, 1963. They lived on the Tendler farm and raised four children.
Wilfred is predeceased by his wife Linda, son Eric, grandson Dustin Tendler, parents Angie and Peter Tendler, siblings and in-laws: Joe Fohr, Adel (Dewey) Holt, Peter (Pat) Tendler and Larry Brooks.
Wilfred is lovingly remembered by his children: daughter Natalie (Darby) Warken of Coronach, SK, daughter Nancy (Braden) Paradon of Viceroy, SK, son Tyler (Leah) of Horizon, SK, daughter-in-law Jade (Roger) Dahl of Viceroy, SK; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sisters: Norma (Dewy) Johnson, Joan Klemenz, Darlene Fohr, Bernice Klemenz, Beverly (Grant) Hardie, Bonnie Brooks, Shelley (Gordon) Loas; numerous nieces and nephews.
There was nothing Wilfred loved more than his family and friends, John Deere equipment, and Ford trucks. He never missed an opportunity to tease anyone who didn't run John Deere equipment or drove anything other than a Ford. There was no changing his mind, but he would certainly do everything he could to change yours. You never wondered if he was going to bring it up—you only wondered when.
Wilfred always enjoyed sitting down with family and friends for a good conversation, often accompanied by the occasional glass of Gibson's whiskey. There was never a shortage of stories to share, especially the many memorable tales from the old Horizon and Viceroy days.
Grandpa also had a passion for hunting and fishing. He took countless hunting and fishing trips, and if you asked him, no one ever caught more fish than he did. He often reminded Brock that he had caught more fish than I could ever dream of—and he was probably right.
After Grandma Linda moved into the health centre, Grandpa Wilfred discovered a new hobby: colouring. Using pencil crayons, he created beautiful pictures with remarkable care and patience. He thoughtfully chose every colour, sometimes asking others for their opinion, and he never coloured outside the lines. Every picture was completed to perfection before he happily moved on to the next one.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm, at the Horizon Cemetery, Horizon, SK with Gary K. Miller facilitating. Tributes by granddaughters Mallory and Larissa. Everyone is invited to fellowship at the Horizon Community Hall.
