Arlene was born on January 10, 1947 in Santa Monica, California to Richard and Helen (Carpenter) Cox. She was born the youngest of four siblings, Carlene, Dick and Ed. In 2000, Arlene discovered a half-brother Larry on her mother’s side.
Arlene was an absolutely gorgeous woman with the most beautiful eyes and smile. She was always happy, smiling and singing. She loved to joke, “If only I could sing well, I would have been a rich woman.” When she wasn’t singing, she was listening to music. She was particularly passionate about Elvis Presley and his music. She joined the Jailhouse Rockers Elvis Presley Fan Club in 1991 and loved the lifelong friends she made there, and their many trips to Graceland and Las Vegas. Above all, Arlene loved her family, her beautiful children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and partner of 30 years.
Arlene was a natural born business owner. She operated a nail salon out of her home from 1984-1989. She owned Idols West, a movie and music memorabilia business, from 1989-2010. She owned Carlene’s Cafe in Atascadero from 2003-2006. A diagnosis of Alzheimer's kept her from continuing to be a business owner.
Arlene was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister, two brothers, and half-brother. She is survived by her three children Tammy, Frank and Rolene, her six grandchildren Joshua, Erica, Jessica, Hope, Alice and Elizabeth, her five great grandchildren Isabel, Claire, Kaleb, Serenity and Kaiden, and her partner of 30 years Tony. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at Pine Mountain Cemetery at 2:00 o’ clock in the afternoon.
