

Zelda V. Orr, 96, of Paso Robles passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Zelda was born on June 4, 1918 in Bavaria, Kansas. Zelda’s parents were Andrew and Lillian Minter and siblings William, Farley, Agatha, Otis, Addie, Charlie, Grace and Kenneth. Zelda grew up in Frederick, Tillman County, Oklahoma. In the late 1930’s Zelda met the love of her life, Johnnie Orr. After marrying her sweetheart Johnnie on April 29, 1939, they moved to California, where Johnnie worked for the Local 12 Operating Engineers while Zelda sold antiques and painted landscapes. Johnnie and Zelda raised their three children, Jerry, Joyce and Garland while living in Oxnard and then finally settling down in Ojai, California for the next forty-seven years. In 2000 Zelda and Johnnie relocated to Templeton, California to be closer to family. After Johnnie retired, he and Zelda traveled the United States in their 5th Wheel as well as spent time with family, friends and spoiling their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Johnnie and Zelda were both baptized on June 29, 1993 by Jim Short of the Montgomery Street Church of Christ in Ojai, California. Both Zelda and Johnnie were active members of the Church of Christ in Ojai, and the Northside Church of Christ in Atascadero, California. Zelda is survived by Son Jerry, Daughter Joyce, Son Garland and Wife Pam, Grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Stefanie and Husband Brent, Kristina and Husband David, Jerry (Tony) and Wife Anna, numerous great-grandchildren, as well as many Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Zelda is predeceased by her husband Johnnie Orr, her granddaughter Carolyn Bevins, and her brothers, William Minter, Farley Minter, John Minter, Otis Minter, Charlie Minter and Kenneth Minter. Her sisters, Agatha Lance, Addie Plumbtree and Grace McTavish. Services are being held at the Chapel of Roses, located at 3450 El Camino Real, Atascadero, California on Saturday, February 28th at 11:00am. Reception immediately following at The La Quinta Inn & Suites, located at 2615 Buena Vista Dr., Paso Robles. The family would like to thank the staff at Royal Home Care, Irene’s Board and Care, Central Coast Hospice and Dr. Jeffrey Bourne of Templeton for their tender care, love and support.
