

Alberta Clare “Roni” Goodby, 82 of Athens, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Madison Hospital. She was born June 28, 1941 in Gulfport, MS to Oscar Lee McKnight and Clare Rosalee Weber McKnight. Her parents precede her in death as well as 2 sisters.
Mrs. Goodby moved to California, where she met the love her her life, Michael Goodby. They lived in California for 15 years, and then they moved to Oregon for 3 years, they moved then to Georgia for 9 years, they moved then to Nevada for 5 years, after which they moved to Athens, AL, where they have been living for the last 5 years. Roni, as her husband called her, retired early and enjoyed life traveling with her husband and her good friends. She also loved fishing, camping and her little Shih Tzu dog, named Dusty.
Survivors include her loving husband, Michael, of 40 years; her son, Charles Allman; her daughter, Billie Lynn Allman; one stepson, Lance Goodby and stepdaughter, Gabrielle Dehoff (Jason). She is also survived by 3 sisters, Irma Haddox, Sharon Necaise, Elaine Smith and 6 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 12-1 p.m. with a chapel service to follow at 1 p.m. The burial will be at Thatch-Mann Cemetery.
