Barbara Nelson

A Loving wife, mother, grandmother joined her heavenly father on December 27, 2015 at Madison Hospital. With the exception of 8 years in Monroe, LA. She was a lifetime resident of Limestone County, AL where she was born to Jack & Veola Smith on June 14, 1935. She is a charter member of Greenbrier Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Charles Smith.

She is survived by her husband Edward L. Nelson of Limestone County, three daughters Melanie Musick and husband Glen of Atlanta, GA. Tammy Ivey and husband Mike of Atlanta, GA, and Deborah Hitchcock and husband Barry of Toney, AL, one sister Earline Clay of Monroe, LA, three brothers, Gerald Smith of Huntsville, AL; Glenn Smith of Decatur, AL; and Douglas Smith of Cullman, AL; five grandchildren Haley Renee Ivey, Kelsey Musick, Courtney Musick, Devin Usleton, Sidnie Hitchcock and a host of Church family and friends.

The Celebration of Life for Barbara A. (Smith) Nelson will be Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenbrier Baptist Church with Pastor’s Ricky Lowery and Wally Bryant (Nephew) officiating.

Burial will be Roselawn Cemetery in Athens, AL.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30, 2015: 6-9 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Gene Marsh, Bryan Bryant, Wesley Whitworth, Ricky Terry, Shayne Maxwell, Alan Nelson, and Gilbert White.
