Felix Edward Bates

Visitation will be Monday July 10, 2017 from 6-9 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Bates passed away Saturday July 8, 2017 at Athens Limestone Hospital.

He was born April 21, 1935 in Limestone County, AL, to Lewis David Bates and Eddie Ruth Johnson Bates. He was a retired letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Huntsville, AL.

Preceded in death by his parents, and wife Mary Jane Bates, two brothers David Almond and James Lewis Bates, and one sister Mabel Lee.

Survivors include two sons Tommy McCurley and Tim Bates, one daughter Felicia Mucci and husband Gino all of Athens, AL; four brothers Hugo, Bobby, Harold, and Donald Bates; one sister Dorothy Weathers; 8 Grandchildren Andria Francis, Jonathan Mucci, Zachary Mucci, Elizabeth McCurley, Dustin McCurley, Savannah McCurley, Morgan Bates, and Erika Clark and 11 Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Morgan Bates, Dustin McCurley, John Mucci, Zack Mucci, Rusty Bates, Daniel Weathers, Shaun Butler, and Lee Francis.
