Freida Ray Minton

Freida Ray Minton, born in Piedmont and longtime resident of Athens, died suddenly on March 9, 2013, in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by her family. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Wayne Mason of Dallas, Texas, and Julie and Matt Speyer of Nashville, Tennessee. She is also survived by grandchildren and their spouses Brian and Melissa Mason, Judd and Amanda Mullinix, Brad Mason, Lindsey Speyer, and Luke Speyer. She is pre-deceased by parents Fred and Ione Ray, husband Clarence Edward Minton, and daughter Cynthia Karen Minton. Freida devoted her entire life to her children, grandchildren, and following her beloved Auburn Tigers. She had an infectious smile and was full of joy and laughter. We are all certain that she is in heaven laughing and giggling with everyone she meets. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 15, at First United Methodist Church in Athens at 1:00 p.m., followed by reception with friends and family in the Beasley Center fellowship hall.
