

Jeannine Clementine Carter, 94, of Athens Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026 after an illness. Jeannine was born in Metz, France on November 16, 1931, she was married to Clarence Jackson Carter (Jack). Jeannine traveled with Jack while he was active duty in the US Army. They moved to the states in 1956. She spent most of her life living in Daleville, Alabama raising her three children Linda, Sheila, and Bruce. She always enjoyed trips to the coast, mountains, and traveling in general.
She was known for her warmth, her sense of humor, and her ability to make everyone feel at home. She always tried to treat people like she wanted to be treated, kind and respectful.
Jeannine was proceeded in death by her mother Marie Helene Lenel Potard, father Jules Potard, her husband Clarence “Jack” and her daughter Linda. Survived by Sheila Tucker (Tony), Bruce (Kathy), 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday April 28th 2026, 9:00 AM at McConnell Funeral Home, 1200 E. Forrest St. Athens, Alabama. Memorial to follow at 10:00 AM. There will be a grave side memorial on Thursday April 30th 2026 at 11:30 AM at Daleville Memorial Gardens 900 State Route 84, Daleville. Alabama.
Family ask in lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Jeannine Carter to “Employee Christmas Fund” at the Goldton at Athens, 22171 Traditions Way, Athens, AL.
