John D Poteete Jr.

Lt.Col. Airforce Ret. John D. Poteete Jr. passed on Thursday March 15, 2012 at his residence.

He was born June 24, 1933 in Detroit, MI, to John D. Poteete, Sr. and Wilma Harlow Poteete. Lt. Col. Retired, after 21 years of service, and a Vietnam Veteran. He earned a P.H.D in higher Education from Georgia State University. He was a longtime member at Elkmont United Methodist Church, and served as a member of Elkmont City Council.

He was survived by his lovely wife Winnie Coffman Poteete of 54 years; one son Kent H. Poteete and wife Doreen Poteete of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter Susan Delite Poteete Mills of Elkmont, AL; one sister JoAnne Poteete White and husband George of Huntsville, AL; two grandchildren Penelope Harlow Poteete 13 years old and John Andrew Poteete 9 years old; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Elkmont UMC, and Hospice of Limestone County or your favorite charity.

There will not be a reception at the Elkmont residence after the graveside service.
