John was a resident of Tanner, Alabama and retired from General Motors.
John is survived by his wife: Patty Sandy, 1 Son: Scott Sandy (Kelli), 1 daughter: Jada Thomas (Matt), 1 Stepson: Johnny Childers, 6 Grandchildren: Shaw Sandy, Sam Sandy, Jack Thomas, Max Thomas, Rowe Thomas and Hunter Childers.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 Brother: Jimmy Sandy.
Visitation will be held at McConnell Funeral Home on May 24, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:50 pm, followed by a Celebration Of Life at McConnell Memorial Chapel at 3:00 pm with Dusty McLemore officiating. Burial will follow after the service in Athens City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shaw Sandy, Sam Sandy, Matt Thomas, Jack Thomas, Max Thomas, Rowe Thomas, and Hunter Childers.
