Joyce Ann Thornton

Visitation will be Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Joyce Thornton was born October 27, 1948 in Limestone County, Al to Roger Johnson and Norma Johnson. She was a devoted wife and mother. She chose to be a homemaker so she could stay home to raise her children. She enjoyed fishing whenever she had the chance. She loved gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents Claude and Bertha Garner; and one brother James Johnson.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years Lee Thornton of Athens, Al; two daughters Valarie Byford and Vicki Townsend; four sisters Caroline Turner, Doris Griffin, Patricia Campbell, and Darlene Clinard; four grandchildren Kendall Barnett, Tyler Byford, Dalton LeCroix, Chase Byford.

Pallbearers will be Tim Thornton, Jeffrey Clinard, Billy Turner, Michael Gray, Zachary Freeman, and Nicholas Freeman.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Byford, Jason McMahan, and Scott McMahan
