Mrs. Long was born January 19, 1948, in Limestone County, AL; to William Goar and Mattie McCafferty Goar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Estes Goar, and Otis Goar.
Mrs. Long loved her family and doing crossword puzzles. She also loved gambling at Tunica.
She is survived by her loving husband, James “Dude” Long, of 57 years; one son, Lee Long of Greenbrier, AL; two daughters, Kim Long (Brandon) of Madison, AL; Melondy Long of Athens, AL; two sisters Willa Morgan and Betty Long both of Belle Mina, AL; one grandchild, Ashley Long; and two great grandchildren, Kolbey Long and Landon Tyler.
There will be a celebration of life service Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 1 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Stuart Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be in the chapel one hour before the service.
