Rodney Smith

Memorial Services for Mr. Rodney Smith, age 58, of Oakland Park, FL, formerly of Athens, AL, will be Saturday November 10, 2012 at 2P.M. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Otis Bentley officiating. Mr. Smith passed away Wednesday October 17, 2012 at his residence.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, November 9, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born July 22, 1954 in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, to Granville Lewis Smith and Mary Smith. He attended East Limestone High School. He served time in the United States Army he was also certified deep sea diver, which is what he did as an occupation welding underwater prior to his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Smith Ray, father Granville Lewis Smith, stepfather Julius Ray; and one brother Jamie Smith.

He is survived by one daughter Sianna Smith of Ardmore, AL; sisters Patty Ricketts of Pulaski, TN, Katy Gracy of Chattanooga, TN, Elizabeth Whortan of Hillsborough, NC; one brother Houston Smith of Oakland Park, FL; two step brothers Steve Ray of Huntsville, AL, Kelly Ray of Virginia Beach, VA; nieces Camille LaFoy, Scarlett Paredes, Kendall Whortan; nephews Patrick Turner, Victor Paredes, Houston Smith, Jr., Dylan Smith; Great Niece Addison LaFoy and Great Nephew Robert Turner and Hayden LaFoy
