Born in St. Louis, MO to Francis and Wilma Claseman, she was a graduate of the all-girls Catholic Rosati-Kain High School. Receiving a scholarship to St. Louis University, she graduated with a B.A. in Music and Spanish with a Computer Science minor.
Before moving to Athens, she taught English in Madrid, Spain, then worked as a computer programmer for EG Edwards in St. Louis. Hired by Information Technology at the University of Georgia in 1990, she worked as an analyst, then help desk and project manager until 2012.
Compassionate, caring, and generous, Anne donated to many causes and charities, and volunteered for the American Red Cross, the Recording for the Blind, and Piedmont Regional Hospital, where she used her language skills to help visitors navigate the facility.
Since Anne's death, her longtime companion, John "Randy" Elam, has died after a battle with cancer.
Survived by her beagle, Bonnie, as well as her scattered Elam outlaws—Angela (Z), Lile and Merry (Jimmy)—she leaves behind her sister Mary (John) Scheibel, brother Paul Claseman, and nieces Holly, Gail, Nicole, and nephew Alan—all in St. Louis, MO, where a beloved close-knit group of her friends still reside.
A memorial service for Anne and Randy will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Ramsey Creek Preserve, 390 Cobb Bridge Rd., Westminster, SC 29693.
Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
