Archie was the son of the late Latta and Turza Howell from Barnesville, OH.
Starting in 1957, he was a purchasing agent at Westinghouse. He retired in 1985. After retiring, he did volunteer work for Athens Regional Medical Center, The Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support, The Athens Classic Center, and Town and Gown Theatre.
Archie is survived by a son, Mark Howell of Athens and Mark's children, Mia Howell of Manila, Philippines and Seth Howell of El Cerrito, CA.
Archie is also survived by another son, Dirk Howell (Molly) of Vero Beach, FL and Dirk's son, Stuart Howell of Atlanta. Archie is also predeceased by granddaughter, Amanda Howell, the daughter of Dirk and Barbara Hartman Howell.
Archie is also survived by a nephew, Joe Cordner of Marina Del Rey, CA.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 22 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Park.
