Betty Combs Archer

Betty was a native of Athens and had lived in Clarke and Oconee Counties for her entire life. She was a graduate of Athens High School and retired from Southern Bell, after many years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Betty loved animals and was very much a “people person”.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Brookshire and Elia Marie Combs; husband, Joe E. Archer; and brother, Bobby Combs.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law/caregivers, Billy and Alice Combs of Watkinsville; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Archer and his wife, Sandra of Athens and Danny Archer and his wife, Kay of Crawford; sisters-in-law, Cathy Wheeler and her husband, Curtis of Bogart and Connie Archer of Panama City, FL; step-son, Joey Archer and step-daughter, Veronica Rupp both of Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 14, 2020 in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Athens Area Humane Society or Athens Area Habitat for Humanity.
