
Born on October 24, 1948, Wayne was the son of the late Fred Jay Wills and Olivia Hayes Wills. A retired United States Army Sergeant, he carried his commitment to duty and integrity throughout his life. He also retired from Southwire, where he worked as a rewind operator. In addition, he and his wife operated The Gospel Barn in Danielsville, a meaningful part of their shared life and work together.
Wayne was survived by his wife, Carolyn Miller Wills; sons, Richard Wills and wife, Jamie Wills, Thomas Wills, and Lewis McDaniel and wife, Tiffanie McDaniel; daughter, Mary Dembeck; brother, Ricky Wills; sisters, Debbie Alewine and Rita Hill; his dog, Little Bit; 11 grandchildren, Adam Wills, Henry Wills, Gracie Wills, Amber McDaniel, Holly McDaniel, Elaina McDaniel, Haylee Wills, Taylor Wills, Kayla Graham, Dustin Young, and Josh Chumley; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his son, James Wills; brother, Mike Wills; brother-in-law, Danny Alewine; and nephew, Shane Campbell.
Above all, Wayne’s wife was his world, and he loved singing with her. He also enjoyed fishing and playing guitar—simple joys that brought him peace and contentment and will remain tender memories for those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, at 2:00 p.m., in the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors David Cox and Elaine Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Huff Cemetery in Oconee County.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 19, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday, March 20, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
