A native of Canton, Cathy was the daughter of the late Clinton Alfred Wheeler and Juanita Cox Wheeler. She worked as head librarian in Radford, Virginia and later moved to Georgia where she served as a librarian for Gwinnett County. She also worked for her husband's company, EXR. Cathy enjoyed training dogs for tracking and obedience.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Wheeler.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Ronald Rainer; a sister, Mary Jane May; her best friend and dog, Kendall; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 18, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Hwy., Athens, followed by a graveside service and interment at 2:30 p.m., in Oconee Memorial Park, 2370 Hog Mountain Rd., Watkinsville.
