Mr. Browning was a son of the late Horace M. Browning and Lillie Ruth Strickland Browning. He was a member of Briarwood Baptist Church and retired from NCR Corporation after 34 years. He also served 12 years with the Oconee County Volunteer Fire Department and was the Fire Chief for 2 years. After retirement, he worked as Bailiff/Chief Bailiff for Oconee County Superior Court. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Browning.
Survivors include his wife, Harriette Moon Browning; one son, David (Crystal) Browning; and one daughter, Terri (Marc) Hughes. He is also survived by his four loving grandchildren: Micheal Daigan Browning, Colton Tanner Browning, Madison Alexis Hughes and David Landen Browning; and four brothers: Alton, Darell, Anthony and Lawrence Browning and one sister, Deborah Joyce Browning; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 21, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Mr. Tommy Archer officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Bernstein Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Daigan, Tanner and Landen Browning, Paul Moon, Brooks Chapman and Tommy Hewell.
The family would like to express their appreciation to University Cancer and Blood Center and Bridgeway Hospice for their loving care and concern during Mr. Browning's illness.
