David "Dave" Demarest Rackett

He was born on December 27, 1958 in Circleville, Ohio to the late William “Bill” and Jean Marie Rackett. Dave was a devoted husband and father, who especially loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, boating on the lake, riding his motorcycle, or watching the grandkids’ various sporting events. He was also a huge fan of Metter High School baseball, coached by his son, Zach.

Dave is survived by his wife, Sue Rackett (nee: Neeley), his four children, Zach Rackett (Blair), Lindsey Brooks, Jessy Patterson (David), and Liza Burnsed (Joel). He will be deeply missed by his grandkids Lily, Molly, Bennett, Jacob, and DJ. His absence is felt by his siblings, Barbara Rackett, Mary Ellen DeLaney (Marion), Patti Cridge, Jean Marie Graham, Sue Nowicki (Jim), sisters-in-law Traci Rackett and Lana Davis, and brothers-in-law John Neeley (Connie) and Tom Neeley (Brenda). Dave will enter heaven and be reunited with his son, Dylan, his son-in-law, Bob, his loving parents, his siblings Beverly Rackett, Jimmy Rackett, and Bill Rackett, and brothers-in-law Sami Graham and Bob Davis.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at The Catholic Center at the University of Georgia (Athens), with the burial to follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery.
