A memorial service will be held for Edwin Scott Saye on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 6 pm at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Athens, GA. A celebratory reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Highway, Athens, GA.
The son of Patricia Chase, Larry (Sr.) and Jennifer Saye, he was born in Athens, GA and was a benevolent portraiture artist and historian. He was a graduate of Clarke Central High School and attended Brewton Parker College in Mount Vernon, GA. He will be remembered most of for being a sweet and generous soul, a lover of cinema, a beloved entertainer in the Athens nightlife, and all things Cher.
He died suddenly on July 12, 2015 and was preceded by partner, Paul Alewine of Athens, GA; grandparents, Elmer (Sr.) and Valeria Saye of Athens, GA, James and Claire Chase, of Brewer, ME and Buck and Glenna Wilson of Athens, GA and nephew, Nicolas Wilson Pope. Survivors include parents, Patricia Ann Chase, Larry and Jennifer Saye, all of Athens; companions, Gypsy and Hissy; sister, Vicky Saye Henderson (Jim Dukes) of Columbia, SC; brothers, Larry “Ed” Edward Saye, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Eric Pope (Stacey Grosvenor) of Watkinsville, GA, Andrew (Amy) Pope of Camden, SC; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Sutton, and Sarah Kay Pope, Cullen Henderson, Wilson and David Pope; and many aunts and uncles, family and friends.
