Elizabeth Anne “Betty” Blum, 74, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026. A resident of Athens, she was born on November 21, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Paul George and Eva F. Huber.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert “Bob” Blum; her son, Robert Blum; her brother, Raymond Huber; and her sister, Diane Huber.
Betty served for many years as an administrative assistant at the University of Georgia, where she was a dedicated and valued member of the staff until her retirement. She was also a member of the choir at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Athens, contributing her time and talents to the parish community in the late 1980s.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Melinda (Prayok) Vongkunthong, and was a proud grandmother to Joshua, Macayla, and Rebekah Vongkunthong. She is also survived by her brothers, Paul Huber and David Huber (Judy).
A private family service will be planned.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Athens Area Humane Society in her memory.
